The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Secretariat is the nerve centre of ASEAN, a regional inter-governmental organisation founded in 1967, to promote peace and stability, sustained economic growth, shared prosperity and social progress. It comprises the ten countries of Southeast Asia.

Currently the ASEAN Secretariat is looking for a qualified candidate to fill the positions of:

Technical Officer Agriculture Industries and Natural Resources
Closing Date: 18 November 2011
Requirements:
  • Bachelor degree in food science, agriculture, economics, management or related field from a reputable university;
  • A minimum three (3) years relevant work experience in technical role;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and policy, research and technical skills in the relevant area and ability to acquire them;
  • Proven skills in problem solving in a complex organisational environment and in work planning;
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, monitor and review policy and procedures;
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organise tasks and work flows, with proven ability for accuracy under pressure and adherence to deadlines;
  • Good oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills, including experience in cross-cultural environment and international settings;
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain sound working relationships with stakeholders;
  • Demonstrated commitment to collaborative work practices;
  • Sound command of English, written and spoken.

Assistant Director Strategic Planning and Coordination
Closing Date: 11 November 2011
Requirements:
  • Postgraduate degree in relevant discipline, preferably in Economics, and Management and Administration.
  • Experience in programme and project development, coordination, management and monitoring particularly in the context of international/regional organisations and working with different partners or donors.
  • Proven track record in developing, coordinating and managing complex development programmes and projects.
  • Sound corporate, strategic and business planning skills.
  • Proven experience in research, public policy development and negotiation, and in working closely with government officials.
  • A sound understanding of international and regional issues, and knowledge of and commitment to ASEAN ideals.
  • Extensive supervisory experience, within a senior management position with a minimum eight (8) years high-level experience in a recognised specialised field.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate staff in a complex work environment.
  • Sound financial, physical and human resource management skills.
  • High-level interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills, including experience in cross-cultural environment and international settings.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain sound working relationships with public and private sector organisations and other stakeholders.
  • Commitment to teamwork and collaborative work practices.
  • Competency in computer skills with adequate knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook where relevant to the position.
  • Proven ability for accuracy under pressure and adherence to deadlines.
  • Excellent command of English, written and spoken.

Senior Officer External Economic Relations
Closing Date: 06 November 2011
Requirements:
  • Postgraduate degree, preferably in the area of Economics.
  • A minimum of six (6) years high-level experience in the relevant field.
  • High-level technical skills and knowledge in area of responsibility.
  • Demonstrated skills in problem solving, planning and the development of policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate staff and work effectively with people at all levels of the organisation.
  • Experience in identifying training and professional/technical development needs of staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct both formal and on the job training, and foster the career development goals of staff.
  • Demonstrated sound oral and written communication skills and sound interpersonal skills, including experience in cross-cultural environment and international settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain sound working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to collaborative work practices.
