Perum BULOG is a food institution in Indonesia which deals with the rice trade system. Bulog was established on May 10, 1967 based on the Decree of the Cabinet Presidium No. 114/Kep/1967. Since 2003, the status of Bulog into BUMN.

Entering the Era of Reform, several government agencies experiencing revitalization and reform including Bulog. Through the RI Presidential Decree No.45 of 1997 the main task is limited to commodity Bulog rice and sugar. This task is shortlisted again with RI Presidential Decree No.19 of 1998 in which the role of commodity rice Bulog only manage alone.

Starting the third Millennium, according to Presidential Decree No. 29 of 2000 dated February 26, 2000, Bulog expected to be more independent in their efforts. Bulog new logistics management with the main function is expected to be more successful in managing inventory, distribution and control of rice prices and logistics services business.
